The following is a list of the Men’s Club competitions together with the entry qualifications.

If, during the competition year a competitors handicap changes that moves the competitor from one category to another the competitor remains in his original category playing off his revised handicap.

Atkinson Trophy

Individual Bogey competition off handicap (played as a matchplay against the course). Handicap limit 18. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Bill Owen Trophy

Played on Captains Day. The Captains choice of competition and handicap range. Junior members are ineligible.

Centenary Trophy

Mid-week competition – 2 best medal scores LESS 2 best Stableford scores. Handicap limit 28. Juniors with a handicap of 18 or lower are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Club Championship

18 Hole Matchplay knockout off scratch. 36 hole final. Juniors are eligible.

Coop Cup

18 Hole Medal Competition, traditionally played on a Sunday – Aggregate of best 3 scores from 5 rounds played. Handicap range 18 – 28. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Ellams Trophy

18 Hole Greensomes Stroke play competition, handicap limit 20. One junior per team. Allowance 0.4 of higher handicap and 0.6 of the lower.

Ellcocks Trophy

18 Hole Foursome competition – 1 Senior member (Lady or Gent) plus 1 Junior (Boy or Girl) Handicap Gents 28, Ladies 36, Junior 50. Allowance ½ combined.

Foster Cup

18 Hole Medal Competition, traditionally played on a Sunday – Aggregate of best 3 scores from 5 rounds played. Handicap range 13 – 17. Juniors with a maximum handicap of 18 are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Furrows Trophy

18 Hole Fourball Matchplay knockout. Handicap limit 24. One junior per team is allowed. All entrants must have played in 3 club medals the previous year.

Hargrove Cup

18 Hole Medal Competition, traditionally played on a Sunday – Aggregate of best 3 scores from 5 rounds played. Handicap range Max: 12. Juniors are eligible.

Heath Trophy

18 Hole Medal competition for individual medal winners in the current playing season. Handicap limit 28. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Heath Salver

18 Hole Matchplay knockout. Handicap limit 28. Entrants must have played in 3 club medals the previous year. Juniors must have a handicap of 18 or lower.

Lanyon Salver

18 Hole Medal Competition traditionally played on Saturdays- Aggregate of best 3 scores from 5 rounds played. Handicap range max: 12. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Long & Short

18 holes Foursomes matchplay. Handicap limit 0 – 12 and 13 – 24. One junior per team is allowed. All entrants must have played in 3 club medals the previous year.

Murphy Cup

Mixed Greensomes, Gentlemen’s invitation. Handicap limits – Men 24, Ladies 36. Allowance 0.4 of higher handicap and 0.6 of the lower. Junior members are eligible to play with a senior partner.

Parker Trophy

36 holes Competition – 18 hole medal followed by 18 hole Stableford. The Stableford score is deducted from the nett Medal score. Handicap limit 20. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Parton Trophy

18 Hole Medal Competition, traditionally played on Saturdays- Aggregate of best 3 scores from 5 rounds played. Handicap range 18 – 28. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Pascall Trophy

18 holes Stableford competition. Handicap limit 18. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Powis Cup

18 Holes Foursomes Medal. Handicap limit 18. Stroke allowance is half of the combined handicaps. Junior members are not eligible. The winners qualify for the national Daily Mail Foursomes competition.

Presidents Putter

Individual medal competition. Handicap limit 28. Juniors with a handicap of 18 or lower are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

T.D.Rees Cup

Fourball Betterball medal competition, only one junior per team is allowed. Handicap limit 24. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball. The winners represent the Wrekin Golf Club in the SHUGC Champion of Champions competition.

Sam Dingley Trophy

36 hole Medal competition, off scratch. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Shropshire Bowl

18 Hole Medal competition. Open to all golfers with a current handicap of 10 and below.

Shropshire Trophy

18 Hole Medal competition. Open to all golfers with handicaps 11 to 24.

Star Trophy

18 Hole Individual medal competition traditionally played on Saturdays. Aggregate of 3 best medal scores from 5 rounds. Handicaps limit 13 – 17. Juniors are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Scrubbers Cup

18 Hole Medal competition, open to Non – Winners of individual Medal competitions during the current playing season. Handicap limit 28. Juniors with a handicap of 18 or lower are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Two’s Club Cup

18 Hole Medal competition, open to those scoring a 2 at any hole in an individual Medal or Stableford competition. Handicap limit 28. Juniors with a handicap of 18 or lower are eligible, one entrant in each two or three ball.

Veterans Cup

18 Medal competition for members over the age of 60. Handicap limit 28 .
